Sexy Saturdaaaaayyyy: Paul Bettany

Posted by nisha on Jan 23, 2010 in Blog

I am so excited that Paul Bettany is back in a sexy role, playing a fallen arc angel in “Legion” that releases this week. My dilemma is whether or not I want to go see the movie, especially since the trailer is so freaky. Grandma freakin’ out and climbing up a wall? How creepy is that? *shudder*. The good news is, Paul is sexy as ever and he’s today’s Sexy Saturday! Enjoy some glorious pics this fabulous Sat. morning. :-)

Thursday’s Books to Read for the Week

Posted by nisha on Jan 21, 2010 in Blog

I’m totally not going to be able to keep doing this every week. I figured I’d start off and see how long I can blog. The purpose? To set a goal and read a certain number of books per week by having YOU, the reader, hold me accountable. So what are the books on this week’s list?

Fired Up: Jayne Ann Krentz
- I admit it. I’m cheating a bit because I started this book already. However, I’m only 30 pages in so it’s not like I’ve read a lot. I love Jayne. I hope this book holds up to the high standards i have for it! I have a feeling she won’t disappoint. Yeaaaaay.

The Wall Street Journal

- Yes. I have to read the WSJ for my business law class so that’s why it’s on the list. I am not ambitious enough to read it on my own accord.

Scones and Sensibility
- I promised a friend i would pick this MG book up and read it. It’s really cute sounding! It’s also on my list for the debut YA author challenge hosted by the Story Siren.

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet
- I loved this book and I have already read it but I want to do another read-through because it’s that awesome. :-) I reviewed it on my examiner cite (linked below) incase you wanted to know my opinion about it.

The New Yorker
- Now THIS I read because i want to. My Nook just downloaded the latest edition so I want to take a gander.

Okay, this list isn’t THAT bad. I can totally pull this off by next Thursday…I hope. Wish me luck!

My Hero: Rest in Peace Erich Segal

Posted by nisha on Jan 20, 2010 in Blog

eric

One of my favorite novels of all time is ‘Love Story’ by Erich Segal. When I heard that he had died, I was a bit sad that Robert Parker’s death sort of over-shadowed it. I love Robert Parker, too, don’t get me wrong. But Erich defined romance…or at least added profoundly to the definition of romance…and the definition of hero. So here, on my blog today, I’m going to pay hommage to this great literary genius, this father of romance. Rest in Peace, Mr. Segal. You will be missed.

Quotes from ‘Love Story’…

“Love means never having to say you’re sorry…”

“Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you I had no control over.”

“What the hell makes you so smart?” I asked. “I wouldn’t go for coffee with you, ” she answered. “Listen — I wouldn’t ask you.” “That, “she replied “is what makes you stupid.”

“What can you say about a twenty-five year old girl who died? That she was beautiful and brilliant. That she loved Mozart and Bach. The Beatles. And me.”

I’m totally, totally sorry, guys. Seriously…I swear.

waldo

Ever play Where’s Waldo? The dude with the striped shirt and the fisherman’s black skull cap? Yeah. I felt like I was Waldo (but I don’t wear stripes because they make me look fat), and you guys were trying to find me. In response to the wonderfully sweet emails I’ve received…no I’m not dead. I’m right here…just busy as all get out.

I can’t tell you how sorry I am for neglecting you all for so long. My life has seriouslly be insane and way busier than I ever asked for. I haven’t been able to do jacksquat. yeah, I managed to get in a few Sexy Saturday posts, but nothing personal. Okay, so maybe you don’t care about personal stuff but I’d like to think I’m special enough that you’re curious about my life. So let me fill you in.

1. Since November, I’ve been studying on and off in crazy cycles. I had finals for the first two weeks of December, and then the first week of the spring semester started last Monday.

2. In the last two weeks of December, I was working 40 hours a week while being kidnapped by family for holiday stuff.

3. In the first two weeks of January, I planned on dedicating all of my time to writing, but guess who got the flu? Yup. me. I felt like I was dying. No joke. Luckily I was able to breathe through my nose before classes started last week. sick

4. Okay, I’ll be completely honest with you know. I have all these writing edits I have to finish and get to my agent but i haven’t (for reasons previously stated) so this past week and a half, all I’ve been doing is writing like a fiend. i’m afraid my agent, as sweet as she is, will hate my revisions so I’m trying to make them as close to perfect as I possibly can. So far? In the words of Twitter….#Nishafails. my story is a lot of fun, but the writing is so tired because I’ve worked it over and over. Again, in the words of Twitter, #Nishaisscrewed.

5. On a happier note, I spoke at my local writers chapter, the Pocono Lehigh Valley Romance Writers. i had barely managed to breathe through my nose then so I was a bit loopy while talking about time management (which is funny since i just spent most of this blog making excuses about not having the time to blog) but I managed to get through it and hopefully people liked hearing my congested voice spout words of wisdom.

So that’s what I’ve been up to! But now I’m back! Sorta. I’ll be blogging more, but I have revisions to finish, another book to get started, classes to do, weight to lose, and a job to struggle with. I do want all of you to know that in the middle of next month, I’ll be starting a new series on my blog called Manic Mondays in which I have one YA author talk about high school memories. It’ll be a lot of fun so stay posted to see who shows up on my blog!

My goal is to read a lot more YA books this year so I’ll also be blogging about my to be read pile. I’ll be posting regular updates on that as well. I’m thinking I’ll be doing this every couple of Thursdays. We’ll see. :-) Either way, my blog will be quiet for another two weeks, and when February happens…BHAM!! You’ll be hit with alll this gloriousness. The good news is, Sexy Saturday is still around! I’ll be posting those pretty regularly so I hope you guys enjoy the hotness that will be going on every weekend. :-)

Either way, it’s good to be back! Be good, y’all and I’ll see you around!
