Fun Stuff
Some Fun Stuff!
That’s what being an artist is – feeling crummy before everyone else feels crummy.
-The New Yorker
I’ve always loved writing, but that has only been part of it. The arts have been a big part of my life. My most memorable summer was when I went into NYC every day and took the train up the museum row. I would spend hours in the Metropolitan Museum of Art pouring over Eighteenth Century European, East Asian, and Egyptian art. Throughout college I used to listen to music like it was a daily necessity. If I felt particularly attached to lyrics, I would I would put that song on repeat for WEEKS. I’ve learned not to be such a music snob anymore, though. When I graduated college, my love for movies exploded into an outright obsession. I think I’m up to hundreds of movies on my Netflix queue and over a thousand movies rated. No matter what way you look at it, my artist’s soul has been drawn to creative energy. Because I have such a love for it, I thought I would share some of my favorites with you.

Favorite Poets
I’m in LOVE with slam poetry. I wrote it, I screamed it, I sung it, I cried it, and I breathed every word of it when I first discovered slam. Here are my top five favorite compilations of Slam poetry. These are must haves!!

I’m also a really big fan of teen authors and artists. It’s so hard to step outside of your comfort zone at a young age and I applaud teens who do. Here are some great compilations. Three of them are published by Push which I highly recommend.

And last but not least, here are some of my favorite poets and poetry anthologies
Favorite Photography and Paintings
I would put my favorite paintings and photographs up here but it’s so hard to decide! Instead, I’m going to send you to a few sites that I promise you will thank me for later.
